Description

Tesla is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design and testing of next-generation products, including batteries, solar equipment, EV chargers, and energy management systems for homes. You will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and testing various mechanical components, including enclosures, busbars, saddles, thermal parts, and other critical hardware. This role involves working as part of a small but dynamic multidisciplinary team, collaborating from concept through to mass production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and model mechanical systems and parts, including plastic, metal, sheet metal components, conveyors, protectors, wire harnesses, fasteners, and other components.
  • Perform mechanical design analysis, including thermal, structural, assembly, and test design considerations.
  • Resolve packaging challenges such as EMI/EMC, RF transmission, thermal management, interconnection, shock and vibration control, etc.
  • Develop test plans based on engineering principles, identify root causes for field or test failures, and implement corrective actions.
  • Create drawing packages and manufacturing instructions to ensure proper assembly of designs.
  • Assist in prototyping and part manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, systems, electrical, controls, manufacturing, and test engineers) to meet program requirements and deadlines.
  • Contribute to Tesla’s mission of accelerating the transition to sustainable energy.

Qualifications
